Traffic Safety is a Marfa, TX based women’s clothing brand founded in 2021.

The idea for Traffic Safety started on a vacation. I wished for a simple, cool, and comfortable cotton dress that was easy to pack.  A dress I could wear to dinner with pretty sandals or over my bathing suit -  even to sleep in! So, I created something that I couldn’t find, what I think is the perfect solution in charming prints and florals.  THE COTTONS were born!  I loved the shape so much that I conceived another version in an array of gorgeous, jewel-toned silks, which I washed to give them texture and shimmer. 

Voila!  Meet THE SILKS!

THE SILKS are meant to be worn your way. You can dress them up or down. They are beautiful on their own,  simple elegance with a gorgeous sheen and drape. Just the dress for a dinner, a party or on your next trip.  THE SILKS are also the perfect base layer.  Mix with beloved pieces from your wardrobe, use as a backdrop for your favorite jewelry, or toss on a boyfriend sweater for a chic slouchy look and hit the streets. THE SILKS are extremely versatile and look great on everyone!   

I am often asked, ‘Why the name, Traffic Safety?’  I get it, perhaps it is a strange name for a women’s clothing brand but the name has its own story. It comes from a fortune I received from a Buddhist Monk while hiking the Kumano Kodo, a difficult and treacherous trail in southern Japan. ‘Traffic Safety’ meant ‘Safe Passage’ for me along the trail. Upon receiving this blessing, I knew everything would be alright on the trail and beyond my trip.  And so, the name makes perfect sense to me - on the journey and in this new venture.

After all, everyone can use a little help along the way - beautiful things to make our lives effortless and comfortable.  I hope these pieces do just that!  Wishing you all safe passage along your own journeys.  Wear with joy!
